Camicas Productions

CAMICAS PRODUCTIONS was born in 2005, the fruit of the meeting of an editor, Yves-Sébastien Camicas, a cameraman, Pierre Creisson and a journalist, Thomas Dandois.

They collaborated for the first time on a documentary on Darfur for the TV channel Arte, for which Thomas Dandois brought back original pictures of areas that were accessible with great difficulty. They returned to this region a year later and obtained the prestigious prize “Grand Reporter: Patrick Bourrat” at the French Senate, for a documentary that was broadcasted by M6, and abroad notably by Al Jazeera and Radio Canada.

Camicas Productions has successfully recruited teams and directors who have helped it to develop the know–how in covering most of the conflicts during these last eight years and bring back rare accounts of populations that are often difficult to get in contact with: in Madagascar during the riots of 2008: in Haiti during the flooding: in Somalia, between 2007 and 2010, with in particular the film “Mogadishu, the ghost city” by Thomas Dandois broadcasted on Arte in the programme “Thema”, the 24 May 2011 and on the TSR for an evening programme called Living History “Histoires Vivantes”.

Today, Camicas Productions produces thirty or so films a year, in short format and reactive with “Arte Reportage”, “Envoyé Spécial” or “66 minutes” and in longer and more analytical format with documentaries for Arte Thema , France 5, “Zone Interdite” and “Enquete Exclusive”.

During these last months our teams have managed to cover the most unexpected events on the other side of the world (Tunisia, Egypt, Sudan, Somalia, Ingouchia..) to lead lengthy societal investigations( food safety, invisible nuisances and pollution…) or also accompany accounts over time (young cancer patients , mothers‘ rejection of their children, teenagers without legal papers in Europe…)..
